The Arduino Pro Mini is a microcontroller board based on the ATmega328P. It has 14 digital input/output (of which 6 can be used as PWM outputs), 6 analog inputs, an on-board resonator, a reset button and holes for mounting pin headers. A six pin header can be connected to an FTDI cable or a breakout board to provide USB power and communication to the board.
The Arduino Pro Mini comes without pre-mounted headers, allowing the use of various types of connectors or direct soldering of wires. The pin layout is compatible with the Arduino Mini.
This Arduino Pro Mini runs the 16MHz bootloader (select 'Arduino Duemilanove w/ 328' within the Arduino software). We recommend first time Arduino users start with the Duemilanove. It's a great board that will get you up and running quickly. The Arduino Pro series is meant for users that understand the limitations of system voltage (5V), lack of connectors, and USB off board.
This board connects directly to a FTDI Basic Breakout board and supports auto-reset. The Arduino Pro Mini also works with the FTDI cable but the FTDI cable does not bring out the DTR pin so the auto-reset feature will not work.
Please note: There is a voltage regulator on board so it can accept voltage up to 12VDC. If you're supplying unregulated power to the board, be sure to connect it to the "RAW" pin and not the VCC.
